Yes, it is possible for a spouse, whole family or friends to stay together at the same host family. We would need the request ahead of time so we can place you in a host family that you will be comfortable and in the case of friends or family members you will each have your own room.

Because we always have students that extend their program once, they are in Puebla, we normally don´t do the final host family assignment until 7 days before the arrival of the student. If the future student e-mails us 7 days before the start of their program, we will be happy to give them the detail host family information.
Each level is to be completed in 3 weeks so it will depend on how many levels a student decides to attend. Students can attend group classes from 3 weeks up to 24 weeks. But if a student cannot attend our program for 3 weeks, they may attend our program on an individual basis by the week, by which we will tailor the program to their Spanish language learning goals and their level of Spanish.
All our teachers have college degrees or masters in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics or Teaching Spanish as a Second Language. They also go through a training course on how to teach Spanish as a Second Language… it is very different to teach the language to Native speakers than to teach the language as Second Language learners.
We offer two kinds of accommodations: The most common one is to stay with a host family in which the program will include all three meals per day and the second option is to stay at Suites La Concordia (they have a small kitchenette), that is only a block an a half away and in this case the program will include lunch Monday-Friday and the student will receive the special price that La Concordia gives our students.
With your registration you will place a $100.00 usd deposit that will be deducted from your course fees at the moment that these are paid. Course fees will be paid on the first Monday of the program.
You will have many ways to pay for your Spanish program. The easiest way is to pay with a credit card (Visa or MasterCard) that way you do not have to carry cash around. The other options will be to pay with a check drawn against a US bank or in cash.
The Spanish Institute is in the Historic Center of Puebla and all financial Institutions have a branch in the Historic Center so you will have ATMs very close to the Institute. We recommend checking with your banking institution back home to find out how much you will be charged to use and ATM in Mexico.
There are many factors that come into play when learning to speak Spanish. Some of these factors will be the age of the student, the interest or need of the student to speak Spanish and their dedication. The Institute has 8 levels that are to be completed in 24 weeks and after completing the 8 levels the student will be able to communicate in Spanish with no problem.
We understand that when it comes to language learning you need to have personal attention that is why we limit the maximum students per class to 6 students. If we have more than 6 students in one level, we will open another section of that level. In average we have 4 students per class.
Many students do this, they will start in group classes and if they see that they have good chemistry with the teacher and the rest of the student they will stay in the group classes and if they feel that they want to improve quicker or want to work in a specific part of the language (i.e., Medical Spanish, Spanish for Diplomats, Law Enforcement Spanish, etc.) they will move to the individual classes.
There are a few gyms close to the Institute. We work with each student to see what they are looking for in a gym to make sure they join a gym that fits their needs. Students normally just have to pay the monthly fee of the gym without having to pay a registration fee. We also have some students that will go to the small gym La Concordia has and workout for free.
The Spanish Institute is one of those institutions that believes that everyone should do what they are good at, and we are good at teaching Spanish as a Second Language, but if a student wants dance classes we work with a dance studio that is very close to the Institute by which a student can take group dance classes for around $3.00 usd per hour or individual classes for around $6.00 usd per hour.
Our Group Spanish Immersion program includes two excursions: Teotihuacan and Cholula. Student in the Individual program can attend these excursions if they fall during their time at the Institute. We also have some optional excursions that the students may attend that are organized by the Institute.
Yes, a student can request to take Cultural and/or Mexican History classes. We will program these during off classes, and they will have an extra charge… they will be tailored towards the students desire of learning.
The cost to study Spanish in Mexico can vary a lot… normally you get what you pay for. Teachers must have experience and a vast knowledge on how to teach Spanish as a Second Language to be able to do so.
This is an aspect that you must be very careful with when choosing a language school. Many schools will give a very inexpensive price to start out with and then start to add books, internet access, meals, host family, excursions, etc. and you will end up paying a tremendous amount for your program. At the Spanish Institute of Puebla, you will pay a price that is pretty much all inclusive, the only extra costs will be any extra personal expensive you will wish (coffees, entry to specific places, movies, ice skating, etc.) and laundry. Laundry will run you from $2.00 to $5.00 usd per week depending on how much laundry you need to have done.
Yes, the Institute offers airport pick-ups. If you are using the host family option, or you are staying at La Concordia, the pick-up to the Puebla airport is included in your program. If you are not using the host family option, then you can request the pick-up at the Puebla airport for a fee. We do offer pick-up at the Mexico City airport but there is a fee for this service.
This will not be a problem, you can attend our program without home stay. Our program will include your lunch Monday-Friday, so you do not have to worry about going back to your accommodations or have to find a place to each during lunch. As you check out the costs for our program you will see the cost with host family and without host family.
Yes, Internet access in available for free. The Institute actually paid to have Fiber Optic connection into the Institute so you will have very good Internet connection at the Institute. Internet connection is something you have to be aware of because many schools offer very poor connection and now days we depend on Internet for many aspects of our lives.
If you are traveling from the United States or Canada, you will not need any converter. The electricity in Mexico is 110. If you are traveling from Europe or countries that have 220 you will need a converter to change it to 110.
Yes, we do offer programs for students that have never had Spanish before. If a student has never had Spanish before and puts some effort they will see leaps and bounds improvement in communication with Native Speakers.
Yes, you will receive a Certificate of completion of the program. It will also include a detailed description of everything you learned so you will have an idea of how much you improved in your language learning.
A typical day at the Institute starts at 9:00 am when classes start. Most students will arrive earlier and hang around the Institute sending and receiving e-mails, ordering coffee, relaxing, etc. Your classes will be from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (with breaks determine between the students and the teachers). At 1:00 pm all students will go to lunch (included in the program). Lunch is a social event in Mexico so it will go from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. At 2:30 pm starts the individual conversation portion of the program that has won international prices (Including special mention in National Geographic magazine). The conversation class will go from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm and at 4:30 many students stay at the Institute doing homework, talking with some of the staff, watching movies, etc. The Institute closes at 6:30 pm.
To be assured a spot in the Spanish Institute of Puebla you will need to register at least a month ahead of time if you plan on attending the Institute any time from August to April. If you are considering attending the Institute from May to July, we suggest to register at least 2 months ahead of time to be assured a spot in the program.

It is very easy to apply for our program. All you will have to do is go to our website and click where it says apply. There you will fill a registration form and place your $100.00 usd deposit (the deposit will be deducted from your course fees). You will not pay anything else until you are actually in Puebla, Mexico.
We have an online exam that can give you a general idea of your Spanish level, but actually when you arrive at the Institute you will take a written and an oral exam that will give us a very good idea of the level you should start to get the most out of your Spanish learning experience.
There is no age limit per say, but we are aware that children learn very different than adults learn so we have specialized program for children. If you want to register a child in our program let us know ahead of time so we can schedule them with a teacher that has experience in teacher Spanish as a Second language to children.
You do not pay for your classes until the first day of class. Once you are already in Puebla and you have already taken your placement exam and have gone through the orientation. At the time you pay for your program we will deduct your $100.00 usd deposit.
To be assured a spot in our program you will need to register for the program at least a month ahead of time if you are planning on attending the program on the off summer months and at least two months ahead of time if you are planning on attending during the summer months.
The $100.00 usd deposit is non-refundable and this is the only payment you would have made to the program before attending the program. If for any reason you can not attend on the starting date you indicated on your registration form just let us know and we can change your starting date and we will transfer the deposit to the new starting date.
You can start the program on any Monday of the year. The only thing you must worry about is that if you want to take group classes then you must start on one of the starting dates marked on our website. For individual classes you may start on any Monday of the year.
There are many differences between the different levels. We follow the natural learning process recommended by the European Framework of language learning, so you build up from one level to the next. In regard to what level, you should start don´t worry… that is our job. Upon your arrival at the Institute you will take a written and an oral exam that will help us determine in which level you should start to get the most out of the program.
Many students request an official transcript after completing our program and with their official transcript they have been able to receive credits at their universities. You may check out the list of all the universities, we know of, that have given credits for our program.
Of course, we can provide references and it is more we would recommend you request references from any school or institution you are thinking of attending. When you request references make sure you are given phone numbers so you can call and speak to a real person. Many places will give you e-mails, but you never know who is actually answering the e-mail.
You do not need a Visa to Study Spanish. Mexico permits visitors to Mexico to study Spanish during their stay. So as long as you entered Mexico legally you will not have any problems studying Spanish at our Institution. If after learning Spanish you decide to get a college degree we can help you and guide you to different colleges or universities and the Visa process you will need for them.
You do not need a Student Visa to study Spanish at the Spanish Institute of Puebla, all you need is a Tourist Visa and with that you can study with us with no problems. At the same time Visa process in Mexico is personal so if you want to get a Student Visa, we can provide you with an Acceptance Letter that you will present to the closest Mexican Embassy or Consulate.

The registration process is very simple… all you have to do is go to our website and click on the apply button that will take you directly to our registration form. Fill all the form up including your requested dates of study and submit the registration. Within hours you will receive an acknowledgement from the Institute, and we will guide you through the rest of the process.
We suggest you pack light. When you travel to Mexico you will find many things you would want to buy and if you pack to many things, it will be hard for you to take them back to your home country. We suggest that you should plan on wearing layers of clothing, it will be a little chilly in the morning and then it will warm up in the afternoon.
If you are traveling from most countries in the American continent, you will be able to use your appliances in Mexico without any problem, but if you are traveling from Europe, Africa and most other countries outside of the American continent then you will not be able to use your appliances in Mexico. Mexico uses 110 volts.
95% of our students never buy insurance. This is up to each individual; some students want to buy travelers insurance just in case something happens during their trip in Mexico and I would check with your health insurance because most of them will cover you in other countries.
Most individuals that study Spanish in Mexico go by themselves so you will meet many other students that are also traveling alone. Within the first day or two you will get to make friend with the other students in the program because all students eat together.
Most airlines fly into Mexico so you can check with your favorite airline and if they do not fly into Mexico, they will have a partner airline that does. All major airlines from the United States including American, United, Delta, Southwest, etc. fly into Mexico and most European airlines including British airways, AirFrance, Iberia, etc. fly into Mexico. To this add the Mexican airlines and you will find that you will not have any problem finding airlines that fly into Mexico.
We cannot buy the plane ticket for you, but we can assist you and give you many ideas on where you could get plane tickets at very reasonable rates. This will also include giving you an idea if you should fly into Puebla or into Mexico City.
To fly into Mexico all you need is to be from one of the countries that does not need a Visa to travel to Mexico and if you are from a country that need a Visa to have the appropriate Visa to travel. Then you will need a valid passport from your country of citizenship and be able to show upon your entry into Mexico, if needed, that you have enough money or the means to pay for your stay in Mexico.
If you are 16 years of above, you will not need any additional documents to travel to Mexico but if you are under 16 you will need a Notarized letter signed by your parent or guardian stating that they are giving permission for your travel to Mexico.
Mexico does not require and specific immunizations to be able to enter the country. If during your time in Mexico you are going to travel to remote areas we recommend you check with your doctor to see if they recommend any specific immunization.
