Possessive adjectives / possessive pronouns

Hello all,

I was hoping to get a little clarification on the difference between possessive adjectives/pronouns in English and possessive adjectives/pronouns in Spanish. Let me know if the following are correct.

She is my friend. Possessive Adjective.
Ella es mi amiga. Adjetivo Posesivo.

She is a friend of mine. Possessive Pronoun.
Ella es una amiga mía. Adjetivo Posesivo.

(Talking about a house)

Mine is bigger. Possessive Pronoun.
La mía es más grande. Pronombre Posesivo.

Here is where I am having trouble.

(Talking about a book and answering the question, Whose is this? ¿De quién es?)

That's mine. Possessive Pronoun.
Es mío. Is this an adjective or pronoun in Spanish? If it replaces the noun and the adjective isn't it a pronoun? Without the definite article can it be a pronoun?

I have found a lot of examples like this in a text book and I am just not sure. Here are a few more from the same book.

¿De quién son estos zapatos?
Son nuestros.

¿De quién es esta toalla?
Es tuya.

¿Son de tu prima estas joyas?
Sí, son suyas.

In all of these cases are they adjectives or pronouns in Spanish? I would really appreciate any assistance.

Thanks

Hola.

In each instance, in the answer you have removed the noun that they modify. They are adjectives.
If I were to say, "Es el mío." then I have a pronoun.
El tuyo está en la sala. = pronoun
I welcome more clarification and correction if I am stating it wrongly.
